Configuring System Health Notifications

You can configure IdentityNow to send you and others an email when components of your organization aren't working.

Best Practice

SailPoint recommends enabling these notifications only after your site has been fully deployed and your aggregations are running as expected.

Configuring System Notifications

You can set notifications for changes to applications, sources, and virtual appliances.

  1. Go to Admin Global > System Settings > System Notifications.

  2. In the Notification Options section, select the Enable checkbox beside the system components you would like to create notifications for.

  3. Select who these notifications should go to:

    • All SailPoint Admins - Sent to the work email address of users with access to the Admin interface.

    • Specific Users by Email - Sent to specified email addresses, which do not have to be associated with an IdentityNow account. Select Add to add an email address field.

  4. Select Save to save these settings.

In addition to getting notified by email, you can view system error reports and audit data in Search and on the Admin Dashboard.

System Components

You can configure email notifications for your applications, sources, and virtual appliances using the default email templates or customizing your own.

Applications

Use the Application Health email template to send notifications within 5 minutes of an app entering an error state. When the app is healthy again, you'll receive another notification within 5 minutes.

Example: The app's automation script stops working.

Sources

Use the Source Health email template to send notifications when a source has been in an error state for 15 minutes. Once the source has been healthy again for 5 minutes, you'll receive another notification. Refer to Source Status Messages for more information.

Examples:

  • Direct connect sources - The Service Account username or password is incorrect.
  • Flat file sources - The formatting is incorrect.

Virtual Appliances

Use the Virtual Appliance Health email template to send notifications when IdentityNow has been unable to communicate with a virtual appliance for 15 minutes. Once the virtual appliance has been healthy again for 5 minutes, you'll receive another notification.

Refer to Monitoring VA Health for status definitions and information.
