IP Allow list: IP restrictions can be configured at the account level through Ubidots' security settings.

Secret Access Scope: Grants access to Ubidots API for managing devices, sending data, retrieving information, and administering IoT applications.

Suspicious Activity Investigation Instructions:

  • Review the Ubidots activity logs for unusual API calls or data access patterns
  • Check for unexpected device registrations or modifications
  • Monitor for unusual data transmission volumes or patterns
  • Verify if there are any unauthorized dashboard or visualization creations
  • Examine API usage statistics for anomalies in request frequency or volume

Mitigation Instructions:

  • Log in to your Ubidots account and navigate to your user profile
  • Go to the API Credentials section

  • Locate the compromised token and click "Revoke" or "Delete"

  • Generate a new API token to replace the compromised one

  • Update all legitimate applications and devices with the new token
  • Review and update security settings, including IP restrictions if available
  • Consider implementing token rotation policies for regular security maintenance
  • Update any automation scripts or integrations that were using the old token
