Managing Custom Applications

The SailPoint Accelerated Application Management (SAAM) browser extension can detect accounts associated with any application, whether public SaaS platforms or private, internal systems.

Inventory entries for private applications are created automatically based on their apex domain (the highest-level domain name without any subdomains). For example, the apex domain of portal.hr.example.com is example.com.

You can define a custom application to provide a clear, human-readable name and manage it as part of your SaaS inventory. In some cases, you may want to define multiple custom applications, each corresponding to different subdomains or URL paths, especially for on-premises or self-hosted environments.

Once a custom application is defined:

  • The SaaS inventory will automatically rebuild to include the new entries.
  • Future activity logs detected under the defined URLs will be attributed to the custom application.

Note

The default view updates automatically within 24 hours. To verify inventory changes immediately, switch the inventory view to Live.

To create a custom application:

  1. Go to Settings > Custom apps.
  2. Select New App.
  3. In the App Name field, enter a unique name.
  4. In the URLs field, enter URLs for domains, subdomains, or paths.
  5. Select the Reputation dropdown, and select the risk that applies to this application.
  6. Select the Category dropdown and select the or the category of the application.
  7. Select Save.
