Prerequisites

• Admin scope should be assigned to the Auth Token.

• Org owners and admins can use SCIM to modify users, however, only org owners can install the SCIM app. The token-generating account must remain an owner or admin in order to make SCIM updates.

• An org-wide app is an extension of a regular Slack app. The difference is that it can be deployed across an entire organization. These apps are installed once, at the organizational level, and have a single token that represents the permissions for the app on many workspaces.

  Benefits for your users include:

  • Org Admins can distribute apps easily across all workspaces.

  • Install pre-approved apps automatically when you create a new workspace.

  • Users only have to authenticate with an app once for all workspaces that have access to the app.

  Note
  An org-wide app isn't automatically added to every workspace in an organization. The app is authorized once for an entire org using OAuth. Admins can then add it to workspaces in the org without further authorization. For more information on API Token generation, refer to API Token Generation.

• Make sure you select org-wide while installing the Slack app to have permissions on the org level.

• The App should have admin permissions on the User token.

• Perform the following steps to provide access for all workspaces to the issued user token:

  1. Go to Enterprise Grid > Manage Organization > Installed Apps > Add to more workspaces.

  2. Select all the workspaces and then select Save.
