Configuring Approval Flow

IAM and ServiceNow Admins have the flexibility to set the approval either in ServiceNow, IdentityIQ, or both. Approvals for the requests will be processed based on the settings in ServiceNow Catalog Setup and then as per the LCM flow defined in IdentityIQ.

To Configure Approvals in ServiceNow:

  1. Go to SailPoint IdentityIQ for ServiceCatalog > Setup, and scroll to the Approval Flow property.

  2. Select the appropriate value for the Approval Flow field based on the approval logic intended.

    • None - indicates no approvals to be performed within ServiceNow once the request is submitted. The request would be raised to IdentityIQ LCM without any additional steps within ServiceNow.

    • Manager Approval - indicates a request will be sent to the requestor’s manager as defined in ServiceNow’s user table in ServiceNow. The request would be raised to IdentityIQ LCM only after manager approval. Approval notifications and process must be defined by the Service Admin as per the organizations standard process.

    • Configurable Approvals - also known as "Approval Flexibility" has been introduced in the SailPoint IdentityIQ for ServiceCatalog v2.5.0 ServiceNow application. For more information, refer to Approval Flexibility.

The request will be raised to IdentityIQ LCM only after approvals in ServiceNow have been completed. Audit information is passed to IdentityIQ only for approved requests. Audit information for rejected requests is not shared with IdentityIQ. Approval notifications and process must be defined by the Service Admin as per the organizations standard process.

Note
In each selected case of “Approval Flow”, LCM will follow as defined in IdentityIQ including its approval logic if defined in IdentityIQ.
